Problem!!!

Ok, not sure what component is the problem here, but I can't find it and things are looking sour!!! First off, I'm new to electonics so I am not the most experienced, but am open to ideas here. I have a Threshold S-150 amp, Sound Valves VTP-100 pre-amp, and a McIntosh MCD 7007 cd player. I recently pulled all components from the shelf and replaced with a new cab. Upon replacing them I noticed that the output on the stereo seems weaker, and the bass is "bloated", where before it seemed smoother and more output. I pulled all components, rechecked wiring, phasing, tubes in pre and alls well. I checked for dc on inputs of amp and sits at .025. I swapped cables problem still there. Any ideas on how to further test components to eliminate problem? I plugged in my cd player directly into amp (it has a variable output) and it still sounds weak. Any ideas what to check for here? If it is the amp, what would be a suspected part? I checked the fuses, rail, and output and all are fine. Any help is appreciated.

It's difficult to figure from your description what is the magnitude of the the change. Have you considered the effect of simply changing your support from a shelf to a cab? This may be pretty dramatic, no matter what the scope-heads think. Can you not get back to the shelf and compare?

i tried swapping speaker cables +/- and i put the original shelf back, although my wife moved the couch from the listening position to a side wall and put a chair where mt listening position was. could this effect my stereo that much?

I would try to reconstruct the original setup and placement of things as much as possible and still keep your wife happy.

Last year we bought new mattresses for our bed.
When taking the old mattresses out of the room the acoustic was totally changed. It sounded like an empty room.

Remember, the WAF is extremely important 😀
