I can't agree more about noisy resistors. Fender's new produced amplifier was born with a stupid falut in some series. The anode resistors were only quart watts so in short time, they started to make noise. I email'd Fender, same did a man call'd Lasse(Another tech.), but Fender said everything was fine...
In new fenders, they have changed to halv watts resistors, wonders if that's enough.

Did you try jiggling all the knobs and switches? Don't forget the pots on the back and inside (if any). Old pots and switches get dirty.

I opened it up. Resoldered couple of suspicious joints and it's fine now ;-)
