Problem with NAD3130 - crackling right speaker

Hi guys, I've recently bought a NAD3130 secondhand. I went through the process of recapping it, and the amp sounds quite good! Unfortunately, once in a while there's a hiss+loss of volume in the right channel: I've swapped cables and speakers to make sure the problem was on the amp.
I've also noticed the balance control is very noisy.
What could it be? Where should I start with the debugging?
I'm thinking maybe some of the solid state components are about to die?

Hi, the good news is your amplifier is probably fine. Almost certainly your balance or volume controls are worn/dirty causing the wiper to become partially disconnected from resistance track. Also, check your phono input connectors are clean and making good contact with the source audio lead. In the first instance, switch the amp off and squirt a blast of Servisol or any other switch cleaning lubricant directly into the balance and volume potentiometers (they usually have gaps in the body). Rotate fully clock-wise/anti-clockwise several times to clean the wiper/track. Remember to turn volume control to minimum before switch on. Check for any improvement. You may have to do this 2 or 3 times if the control is really dirty. If this does not solve the problem, you will need to replace the potentiometer.
