problem with headphones

I have the following setup:

cable box connects to TV via hdmi
blue ray connects to tv via hdmi.

TV optical output connects to splitter.
Splitter connects to sound bar via optical cable.
Splitter connects to wireless headphone base via RCA connection.

Here is the problem.

I can listen to the TV over the headphones just fine.
I cannot listen over the heaphones if using the blue ray or smart tv function (netflix, hulu, amazon...).

If anyone could assist that would be great...thanks..

Obviously the audio output if muted for the blu-ray etc.. The obvious question is why.

Pehaps there are separate audio configuration on the TV for each input that enabled audio out?.
