Proac Response Clone 2.5 lookalike

Hey,

I've read all the success story's about the Proac Response Clone 2.5's. I've been tempted to make a pair of them on several ocasions but the costs always made me go back. It's just hard for me to buy a speaker while I can get a pair of Peerless CSX for the price of that one Scan Speak.
Now I had a thought, would it be difficult to construct a similar speaker using cheaper woofers and tweeters? When I say similar I don't mean, offcourse, a similar sounding speaker.
But I really like the looks of the Proac Response, with the BR in the back and such.

Anyway my thoughts were to construct a similar looking speaker, wich also sounds "good!!" using Peerless 176CSX drivers as woofers. I'm not quite sure about the tweeters yet.
- So how do the Peerless 176CSX drivers compare against the Scan Speak 8535's?
- What tweeters would be good to accompany them?
- Maybe other drivers are suitable? (I've heard about the Usher drivers that are cheepar and comparable with the Scan Speak, problem is that I can't get them over here (Europe))
- I've heard about the amazing bass of the Proacs, would it be hard to duplicate this?

Just thinking out loud here, I hope you guys/girls 🙂 can give me your thoughts on this...
