Setting the same frequency response, ie. following the resonance pattern, will go a long way to doing this.emulate the sound
Things change from the above statement where the cone breaks up at higher frequencies, and it's interesting because that's probably the main quality of these flexible but well damped paper cones that makes them desirable.
Thanks so much for your reply, dear sirs!! I really respect all of you and your knowledge about this. I'm quite eager to get into this hobby myself!!
Oh, not to forgot vintage pro drivers. As example, JBL did very good job back then and many of those 70's - 80's JBL pro drivers are still good stuff.
Some years ago I made speakers using JBL 2445J + 2380A horns for mid-high (500- 8000Hz). Two 12" JBL 2206H low mids. Two 18" RCF subs. The clarity, accuracy and "in your face" effect from those JBL drivers+horns was something I'm still missing a lot. I have never enjoyed listening to a music that much really!
Those 2445J mid drivers has much heavier and stronger magnet/voice coil (motor) assembly than many woofers. They weight 15kg each. 4 inch voice coils. They just open up the music experience so much different - but in a good way tbh.
