preset or resistor what is best?

In th last time read in some companies audio cataloges what yours amps no utilize adjust presets(maybe sales marketing?)..
the question is: exchange my all presets (bias) for fixed calculated resistors?...
disadvantages and adventages of this? have best sound?............please
