Good evening, I would like to build the pre Aleph 1.7, my intention is to build a single input line and use a potentiometer instead of the remote control with relay, can you give me advice on what value the potentiometer must have or how to make a resistance divider rotary?
A good quality 10k pot will be fine.
ALPS 10KAX2 10K Ohm Audio Taper Stereo Potentiometer 6mm Shaft
Switched metal film resistors can be better if a high quality switch is used, though expensive.
This inexpensive stepped 10k control is pretty good though.

This is maybe a good question in the pass threat.
My opinion is to put not 10k at the output.
You should consider to put the pot at the input.
How to wire this you can take a look into the Pass X2 Service manual rev 0/1.

Single input line means, cinch / RCA only? no balanced / XLR input?
look at X2 how Pass / wayne did it.
At the P i would delete / not equip all yello marked positions and replace R62 by wire.
The 10K as volume pot at the input like in the x2 Manual.
If you put 10k at output preamp you will maybe get a high output impedance.
But please put your question in the pass / P1.7 threat too, that other than me could give you an additional advice.

Thanks for the answer Danger Mouse, please note that I would only use the preamp with balanced inputs and outputs.
I thought of putting out a potentiometer on output- and an identical potentiometer on output + that work coupled but I don't find it of good quality from 1 k ohm.
I would do the same thing on the other channel for a total of 4 potentiometers ..... what do you think?
