I never had a problem with that. Is it a static screen (blind thread) between the primary and the secondary?
Try grounding, via a film capacitor say 1uF on the chassis. It is AC grounding only for high frequencies, but in principle that blind thread serves that purpose.
WhaT type of tranformer.if toriod ground screen so acts as return for fault current. Stacked cores go with transformer core ground.
