Hi I'm looking for power supply, Hammond drop in replacement for this chinese amp. The original PS runs very hot .Im looking for what Hammond model.the amp takes 2 6N8P (6SN7) 6P3P (6L6G) 5z4 tubes 5 watts/channel single ended.amp broke in two days for just couple hours of use I replced almost parts amp sounds ok now.
thanks

Ill bet you mean that you are looking for a replacement power transformer- right?
OK - if you can post the schematic it will make things a lot easier. Looks like the High Voltage secondary is 260-0-260. then there are two 6.3vac secondary's and one 5vac secondary. How hot is hot? Too hot to touch after 5 min? If so, that is a problem! How stuck are you on this specific design? Would you consider going to solid state rectifier? This would lighten the load on the power transformer. Do you have a meter to measure some voltages and currents?

or even drilling vent holes in the cover of the PTX...
I second that.
Remove the cover and measure temperature, how many centigrades it is lower now.
Put some thick wafers between tranny and chassis for better convection.
First thanks for a quick reply and sorry for my limited english.

Yes that's what I mean I want to replace this with hammond but I don't know which model to buy. I don't have schematic, the PT has number (260-0-260 WbW color wires )(110v 2 red wires) 3.15v X 2 (WbW wires) 3.15v X2 WbW wires 5v 2 blue wires. Do you think replacing good brand PT reduced heat? I run this for couple hour without cover but still hot,its not extremely hot but compared to my Heathkit aa151 i didn't feel any warm running for hours. the same thing with my s5 diy kit transformer runs hot I didn't use at all sound bad no bass .but this amp sounds good to me I like it so far specially kt66 tube even the stock chinese parts sounds good for me for just $199

I have solid state rectifier like this Solid State Rectifiers
but still hot.I do have multimeter craftsman I only use it for checking continuity, resistor value, wall voltage I haven't checking thru transformer.

The closest Hammond I would use is the 270HX, it has a 275-0-275 secondary with a 5V 3A and a 6.3V 6A tap.
The primary on your transformer is marked at 110, the hammond is 115, so your B+ should be very close, if your line voltage is 120, if not you may have to adjust the power supply resistors. Also you will need to parallel the heaters since your old transformer had two 6.3 volt taps.
That hammond will still probably run warm, but shouldn't burn your fingers if you touch it after 5 min of the amp running.
