+/- power supply for power amp

Thanks for the discussion.
As you will have guessed, this is my first foray into unscripted power amp build. I thought I was asking a simple question about a power supply but you have back-filled a lot of understanding about how the supply is integral to the overall circuit.
The carcass I am working with is not an old amp - it's a Pioneer V-M2000. It was ridiculously over-engineered, so when I couldn't revive it, I saw the value in the iron and a couple of nice cans and heat sinks. It must be something of an oddity with the power supply it has.
I think I will keep the iron for another project. I have a re-capped driver board left over after a White Oak of my Phase Linear. I like my WOPL400 but I also liked it before the White Oak driver board when it was recapped and fitted with MJ21196 outputs. I have most of what I need to rebuild the original.... or perhaps something different.
I will build a conventional PS for my amp kits.
Thanks again for all the kind advice.
