I think option B is the one to go for.
You could add a small value resistor before the first cap at location "1". Aim to drop just 1 or 2 volts on each resistor at maximum current draw. Then you have a CRCR supply which is very low in hum and hi freq artifacts.
Look up snubbers for both the rectifier diodes and for the PSU output as well as film and ceramic bypass for the electrolytics.
Your pre will really appreciate a good DC supply, but keep it very compact to reduce track and wire lengths.

It seems to me to have read, I do not know any more on which forum, than John Curl with CTC Builders use the B configuration.
