Here's the story,... I wanted to but a system for my car and i didnt want to spend an outragous amount of money, so i went down to my local Circuit city to look for somthing. I ended up buying 2 10" 1030 refrence series infinity subs, and a verge mono amp, and an alpine deck. Afther they finished the installation i went to see how it sounded... not loud at all. So i figured it was an adjustment probem.
Even with the gain all the way up and deck adjusted with the bass high, i could barley get the subs to hit. Than it would overheat after about 20 min. My friend had the same amp so i threw my subs on it and it almost blew my ears out.. and had no overheating problem.
So thinking i had gotten a bad amp i took it back and stepped up to the infinity 310a mono amplifier thinking that i would be a lot better off. The amp had the same probelm. No punch even with the gain al lthe way up, and it will clip. I dont understand what my problem can be. Is my amp not getting enough power?, is the ground not good enough?, Is It the feed from my deck?
I cant understad how i have had the same problem with 2 amps, and my friend has a smaller amp that punches and has no overheating problem. What is my problem?

either your charging system is not up to the task
or your head unit is not producing enough of a drive signal
or your car is not good for loud bass
or the installation is poor
or any
or all
of the above.

It does dim the lights a bit when it hits... I have never seemed to have a problem with it draining the battery. It will play for hours just on the battery and be fine. My guess would be that it is the head unit... but what would be the best way to test it without changing the head unit?
