Power-on relay circuit, i/o connector

My preamp has two data I/O connectors, which can be used to turn on power on other eqipment, such as a projector, or a poweramp of the same brand through an I/O data cable.
I would like to have my pre turn on my gainclone. How should I proceed?
I figured to put a relay circuit in the gainclone as a second on/off between the AC and the fuse.

Does anyone know a circuit I could use for this application? Would I be playing with fire here (AC safety)?
