I have a power acoustik lt-980 2. I wired it in my car hooked up the subs and nothing. I got them used and the guy showed me it was good. I suspected my RCA jacks, but checked them and they were good and also tried a good head unit that worked with an amp. The amp goes into protection mode as soon as I touch the RCA wires to the amp, and when I disconnect the RCA wire the light goes out. I have no idea what is up and really need help. Thanks so much.
8 volts may not be enough to allow the amp to turn on. You need to determine why you only have 8v.
It could be anything connected to the B+ or ground terminals. I'm assuming that the battery or power supply you're using is producing at least 12v.
Ill check the battery tonight. And B+ is just power right? And does it matter that the blue light by the streaker out put comes on?
So today I checked my ground and with the radio on it said I was getting like 3v on the remote wire at the amp. But 11v Behind the hu on the remote wire grounding to the hu case. Do you think I may have a bad volt meter
Im not sure. the batt had 11v and there was 3 at the amp. But when oi touched the black probe to the frame and red on the + batt. I Only had like 3 volts also. so then I checked the voltage of the + wire grounding on the neg batt terminal and again less than 5

Well holy (word I can't say) I ground the paint off my ground, and it came to life!!! And it HITS. Btw it's driving 2 mtx thunder series 7000 12s. But now I'm running one bridged. So thank you everyone for all the help I love this forum.
You can connect the speakers in any way as long as you don't connect them in a way that creates a load that's below the lowest rated load for the amp.
This is where I get confused. So if I wire two 4ohms in parallel. They stay at 4 ohms right? Bt wiring them in series drops them to 2 ohms right? Or do I have this wrong?
Two 4 ohms in parallel is 2 ohms.
Two 4 ohms in series is 8 ohms.
