I'm replacing a potentiometer in an old Sony amp for a friend and I don't think I'll be able to find one with the loudness tap that it has. Loudness shmoudness, I don't care about it but I'm wondering what to do with the extra connection. Leave it hanging, ground it, connect to the top of the control?
Anybody out there know off the top of their head? I can't seem to find a schematic showing me a circuit of how the loudness tap on a potentiometer works.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Just leave it hang. Radio Shack used to sell a $2 dual audio taper 100K pot from Alps that had a loudness tap. Worked fine in an old Sony preamp.
What type is this ALPS pot?
I just buy one stereo from ALPS for 30EURO.
You probaly can convert EURO to $.
