Time again for some more update for the F5X case GB.

Good news first :

The new front panels are ready, and the material defect is rectified. There is a very minor cosmetic issue that I requested rework, but we are basically ready to ship before X'mas. As soon as Mark can find time to get a quote next week for shipment costs, we can arrange for bulk shipment in the following weeks.

So it is time for us to call for the second down payment. There are a few exceptions this time :

1) Nikon1975 has bought stuff for us, including Furutech IECs. So we shall settle with him directly. He does not have to pay the 2nd installment via John.
2) The Asian subscriber will get a quote from us on their individual shipment costs, and this will be added to the case costs plus PayPal fees. We still prefer to receive one payment from John (with the exception of Nikon1975), so please pay John who will then arrange bank transfer to us for you all.
3) Two new subscribers – NicMac get a second case, for 360 Euros Case Option 2 parts, plus Conrad heat sinks, plus shipment. This will be on top of your second instalment for your first case. JBL4435 will pay for one complete case (Option 2) plus Conrad heat sinks in one single instalment. John will kindly work out the sums and inform you accordingly.

Lots of work for John. Please show your appreciations.

As the Conrad heat sinks are also about ready right now, John has proposed a test fit. We do not think it a must, as we are confident with the design and our own machining. But if the majority of you think it is nice to do, then we are happy to support that by sending John’s set asap by air mail to him in a week or two max. To be fair to him, I think then the Group should share the difference of shipment costs between air and surface mail to Australia. The difference for air to surface parcel for 20kg is, e.g. 85 Euros. Shared between 30 cases will mean 3 Euros extra per case. I think worth doing. But you decide collectively, and John let mark know what to do.

The test team has already two standard circuits working, and I have seen the first square wave responses and distortion spectrums. Also one tester has tested the cascode version without problems. That means the PCB is bug free, and I shall talk to Dave to release them, together with the schematics of the standard configuration, as Beta boards for the Case GB subscribers only. Only when all functionalities and fine tuning of all configurations of the same PCB have been tested and reported by the test team am I prepared to release them for general purchase through DIYA. That implies a limited risk for the Beta tester that there might be bugs in one of the configurations. And of course you can always choose to wait till all testing are done. The timing is out of my hands though. If you organise yourself quickly, we might even be able to get them off to you by mid December, again bulk shipment through the local distributors, separet to the case for ease of handling at our side.

So confirmation of shipment costs next week......
