I was trying to add an index to the first post of my long thread. When I copy a link to a post and paste the link, the site software embeds a significant portion of the linked post, not just a clickable link. This adds significant clutter. Am I doing something wrong.
example: I want to link to this post

Assessing the tweeter:
The next step is to see if my estimates of tweeter performance are accurate. I constructed a prototype from XPS foam board, 310 mm wide, with a 20 mm bevel. I made polar frequency response scans in 15 degree increments from 0 to 180. The results are shown below.
As I had hoped, the small waveguide begins working at about 3k. Most 25 mm dome tweeters have a constant DI of about 4 dB up to around 5k, and then they steadily become more directive. This small waveguide begins controlling directivity at 3k. It is a small, but important...

You can find the link to any post in its number. Your post above is #2, for example.
Right click on that number, and copy the link. Try it and post it here.

Fixing or creating them the old way.

Somehow you used the EMBEDD tag for your link. No need to do that, just copy and paste the link. Why does my link show up as a complete re-post?
Click the share icon in the top right of a post (3 circles connected by two lines), then the copy-to-clipboard icon (two clipboards stacked on top of each other). That's the correct way to copy the link to a specific post.
Never copy a URL that has a page number mentioned, for example by copying it from your browser URL bar. It can be different for any user depending on how many posts per page they have chosen to see.

The easiest way for me is like this:
- https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/xf2-3-migration-bug-reports.418201/post-7830762
The old software didn't embed, the update does it by default. Thanks, user error on my part. I was right clicking on the funky symbol, rather than the post number. I have done it right a hundred times before, not sure what went wrong...
I was just trying to paste this page https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...ity-horns-you-can-actually-buy.329476/page-26 to another forum, but instead of just pasting the link it includes text of a poster. This is definitely some kind of new problem for me. Is it a firefox browser bug? But I've been using firefox for years without this happening. I hope the maintenance staff here will look into this.
It would be the other forum choosing to do this. You should be able to do similar to the way you do it here - https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/xf2-3-migration-bug-reports.418201/post-7830733
A second problem
Don't copy the link from the address bar. Your settings are different to other members and it will point to the wrong page.

I can't remember this "embedding" thing ever happening before until the about a week or so ago. Anyway, so copying a link from the address bar and pasting it on the same line as this text gets this result. https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/beyond-the-ariel.100392/page-629
No, I had the same thing happen last week when I tried posting a link from this forum to another new post I was making here too.It would be the other forum choosing to do this.
But you're also saying that I can (and should) click on that three legged icon you circled in green, from the member's post who I wish to cite, like this https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/beyond-the-ariel.100392/page-629
HA! If that's what that icon is supposed to do it's badly broken. When I clicked on it from on of Marco_gea's posts, pasted it in the post right above this one, clicking on it not only didn't bring me to his post it brought me to a different page. But at least I now know not to skip a line when pasting links in posts.
I can see that link did not come from the three legged sharing icon, because the link shows a page number. Page numbers are worked out after the server checks your settings, so you shouldn't share those links with others.
BTW, sorry if I misunderstood that you had this problem on another site. In any case this forum software is used on many sites.
