The turkey drop is a classic! "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."
It's also fun to reminisce over it around younger folk who don't understand what you're chucking over.

Recycling is good, isn't it? You would not notice the difference, anyway.Whats in your happy meal?
This is what Summer tastes like in Sweden (Waffle with shrimp, caviar, mayonnaise, chopped onion, sour cream, dill and lemon.)
This makes me laugh of joy!

Port Clinton OH has a New Year's Eve "Walleye Drop". The walleye is a fish native to northern US and Canada and is a member of the pike family, plentiful in western OH/CN's Lake Erie. The turkey drop is a classic! "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

The Walleye Drop uses a fiberglas replica!
That IS true!
A study checking the immune system (allergies) among Estonian kids and Swedish (Stockholm) showed that the Estonian kids had much fewer allergies much because the were exposed to the natural nature, whilst Swedish kids lived in a much too hygienic environment. The theory is that when the immune system hasn't any real threats to deal with they take on whatever it can find.

That is weird, because allergies can worsen with repeated exposure to the allergen.

It is because your immune system develops a stronger response to the allergen and while that is good with viruses and bacteria the response to the allergen isn't what we want. So kids that exhibit allergies more should be the ones that were exposed to allergens more.

I think the difference is that a child's immune system is naive or untrained - exposing children to multiple allergens through an outdoor lifestyle gives their immune system a broad library of responses to draw from in later years. It also helps to avoid autoimmune diseases where the system has been kept so clean that it goes looking for something to respond to and can only find 'self' allergens. That is weird,
That's very different to the situation where something that triggered a strong immune response on first exposure is then encountered for a second time. The first response may be strong but is rarely life threatening, repeat exposure can trigger anaphylaxis.
As long as you grabbed a clean part at the top and pulled before using it, you got a clean surface to dry your hands on. If the roll ran out and the end was just dangling there then all bets are off.
