Don't worry Magnus, I got the joke.I think, but I am not sure it is a reindeer or maybe even a large goat ...
and a time when people wanted something around them for privacy when talking on the phone. Instead of loudly facetiming with someone in a doctors office waiting room...
Some - but not that many - years ago on a hill top in Scotland, I came across, another variant of this:
Makes you wonder if it is wireless after all.... 🙃

When I was a kid we got to make our own phones. Didn’t really work very well but it was a lot more fun than being forced to eat the over cooked veggies that came in the can.

A string with gain?

My friend and I experimented with the angled version around a tree or house corner. It worked (somewhat).
Talking of telephones, Indy Neidell presenting the Korean War, week by week (great videos really) behind 4 Cobra-phones from the Swedish Telephone Company (Ericsson I would think originally). You dialed the number on the bottom of this odd phone.
I remember those. Only one neighbour had one and his Mom used to yell at us, as when you picked it up, that was the same as taking the phone off the hook. `
It never seemed strange as a child did it?

P.S. We had a flying squirrel in the attic of the new house we moved into a little over a year ago…was driving my daughter insane at night. Took me a while to catch and relocate him.
Never saw one before that.
Now this DID seem strange as a child, this character (Nosybonk -yes, he even had a weird name) was on children's TV in England in the '80s.
