Yes, I thought about that later in the evening and decided that Generation Z doesn't have a monopoly on not being practical. What really concerns me is that our generation thought it was right to bring them up that way. If you think about it, it's better for society as a whole to expose individuals to danger earlier when less has been invested in them than later. When I was a lad (oh, I used to get that litany as a kid), boys were expected to have penknives, play with bows and arrows, climb trees, and fall off roller skates, pushbikes, sledges, and go-carts. Scabby knees and elbows were a given. I added exploring along railway lines (electric), exploring rivers and tunnels, and electricity. This was not unusual; it would be today.Don't limit your concern to Gen Z. I know some people my age (boomers) who wouldn't have a clue.
Growing that is legal in California... up to six at a time.
Now, don't ask me how I know, but that tree is not gonna do too good, it's simply not trimmed properly. It has to be trained and then it won't look so lush... it will be a weird looking tree with no leaves just "colas"... See... the branch tips flower and the leaves drop out. So, you don't want lots of branches, just enough to get.. oh... four lbs per tree of the stickiest stuff you can imagine.
The truly funny thing is that we don't smoke it...
Those trees, BTW, go fantastic with 70's Warner Brothers...

NOTE: Growing cannabis plants is legal in California for private consumption. Up to six plants at any one time. Check with your local jurisdiction if you want to do this. Be careful with your turntable, I suggest using the cueing lever or just go digital.
I'm an engineer by profession. So I was gifted some teeny trees one cold January day. ( SoCal cold ).
So I did a lot of reading, bought the specific supplies and went at it. Sometime in late February, the small trees went outdoors and sometime in early May I started the pre-requisite trimming.
Daily, I watered them, fertilized them, used Neem Oil as needed (!!)... and around May I got them to revegetate and around late June it became a weekly Sunday chore to start the early crop. Then July and August the mid crop and September and October the late crop. With the ensuing drying, curing, cooking, etc, etc, etc... Since the plants were of different types, their growth cycles were different, so I was pretty busy... tomatoes too.
The plants were upstairs in very large pots, alongside my tomatoes. up on our 600 sq foot roof top deck, and I could open the bedroom door and play some nice music while doing my thing, smoking a cigar and drinking a cold beer. I found out that music from the 70s was the best for this thing. It was very relaxing.
It was fun.
The really funny thing, though, is that I'm not into smoking any of that stuff. Not my thing, but given the opportunity, I learned how to do it. I guess knowing how to grow heirloom tomatoes helps a lot.
I think I threw away more than half of the crop as not good enough for me... So, I kept about 12 lbs after curing... no kidding. I gave it all away. I made some people very happy.
I gotta tell ya... some of those colas were as big as my forearm... and they were OILY. I had to wear latex gloves whenever I handled that stuff.
Now, as they say in these forums... no pictures....
A Sunday afternoon, doing the late crop....
You know, I could do it again... perhaps by BAF25 we can all sit down out in the front yard of the Petaluma Community Center and play some Peter Frampton... Do You Feel Like We Do? Kumbaya!
I mean, can you imagine what the BAF25 Auction could be like? I could show up with five pounds of the finest Suburban SoCal.. Real Irvine Gold.
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on, baby, light my fire
Come on, baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah

No, not really. I'm not into that. It's been eons since I was a kid.
Nowadays I just do vodka tonics and cigars.
But it was fun to grow them... a lot easier than wiring an amp and hoping it won't self immolate.
Funny thing, so we were also gifted a very nice glass bong. We keep it in the guest bathroom with flowers. ;-)
Come to think about it, I might still have some left. I put them all in vacuum bags... with a partial vacuum and a 62% humidifier packet. About 8 oz per bag. They've been in a dark corner of the Stereo Museum Closet. Maybe, I could donate some for BAF25.
Welcome to Alta California, amigos!
That's about two feet long... ;-)

Only 4 per household in Canada.

Awesome.... All of Canada? But you have to cross Washington and Oregon to compare, and then you got The Federales.
Also, your outdoor growing season is a lot shorter. I got two crops per plant... a couple of plants went from August to October in full bloom...
Oh, I forget.. I made two kinds of oil... one with THC and another one.... I gave some to a friend of a friend with cancer. He liked it.
Got some awesome paraphanelia... you got to cure the plant then you got to cook it.... for the oils you infuse them. All of that is done with machines that have lights, switches, heaters, fan motors... most awesome.

I should have immigrated when I had the chance. šCannabis was legalized federally in Canada.
