This reminded me.

A decade ago a golfing pal's wife bought him for his birthday, one of these new watches, which would show you the distance you were from any pin, on any course you programmed it to display.
He and I were playing with another friend on the first day he was wearing it.

On one hole, all three of us had hit our drives a similar length, but he and I were on one side of the fairway and the second friend the other. He came over and grabbed his wrist and looked at the watch.

"That's never 215 yards to the pin!" He said.


I replied, "Correct! But it is a quarter past two!"

Hahaha! That's great!

That reminds me.. A friend told me his wife said she wanted "something that goes from zero to 140 in less than 10 seconds" - I told him "why don't you get her a scale?" 😀

The main issue I have is, they have to state the actual value of the stolen goods. I mean, if it's stolen, that surely diminishes the value, doesn't it?

Actually despite the way Captain Picard says it (day.ta), English and Australian pronunciation uses a long 'a' for both syllables of data (dah.tah), as we also do for master.
