We have an old axe that has been in the family for many generations. Only the stem has been changed several times and the blade twice.

I would walk into a place like that and ask- how much is this, how much is this, how much is this...
Good thing they included the strobe markings on the platter for that battery powered equipment...

Electronics were far more expensive in the 1980s And gadgety things were quiet popular too.
I can see some procurement manager: "Can we get them without those markings? What! That's almost double; forget it"
