I knew a guy who drove better when he was intoxicated. Sober, he was always in a hurry to beat traffic; sudden lane changes w/o signalling, rolling through stop signs, driving distracted, etc. Drunk, he did everything by the book, right down to obeying the speed limit.I picked up recently that it takes a lot of effort to be brought to jail in Wisconsin for DUI.
Swedish regulations:
Drunk driving
Aggravated drunk driving
- 0.2 per mille (‰) = 0.1 mg of alcohol per litre of breath.
- Punishable by fines or imprisonment for up to 6 months.
- Revoked driving licence for 1 year (2 years in some cases, e.g. repeat drunk driving).
And todays picture:
- 1.0 per mille (‰) = 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of breath.
- Punishable by imprisonment for up to 2 years.
- Revoked driving licence for 2 years. Must retake the theory test and driving test.

True fact: in the US 1/3 of all highway fatalities involve drunk drivers. That means 2/3 are sober. While the penalties for DUI are severe, they're not severe enough in other cases. And then there are ppl with licenses who should never be behind the wheel, ever.
At 10% alcohol content, I'm not surprised. I had an encounter with Voodoo Ranger IPA (9%) when I found it on sale at my local supermarket. I was wondering why I was getting messed up after a couple of bottles until I had a squint at the label and noticed the alcohol content. Didn't taste all that great, either... My favorite used to be Sierra Nevada Torpedo, which clocks in at 7.5%.
I drink both of them.... right now there's a couple of 12 packs, of each, in my garage fridges.
The thing with Voodoo Ranger is that they have several types. Some of them, IMHO, are sort of nasty with all kinds of foo foo stuff. I get their Imperial IPA... the green label/can.
My family is from Scotland. one of my uncles there was done for DUI and lost his licence for ten years!
I should say, I never drink and drive nowadays, just for the record. I'm dead against it. However, back in my 20's it was fairly common. I wish we had Ubers back then!
However, we have a lot of recent immigrants from Africa (SA and Zim) that have brought their habits here and still seem to think it's OK.

What I fail to understand are people who have lost their license due to a DUI and who still drive, often after drinking. What's even more incomprehensible is that, when caught, their punishment isn't more severe. I think that, when caught driving while suspended, the vehicle being driven should be seized, never to be returned, and sold at a police auction. It shouldn't matter if the vehicle was owned, or borrowed, nor if monies are owed (the owner still being obligated to make payments for being so stupid, particularly if they lent the vehicle to said relative, lover, roommate, friend).I knew a guy who drove better when he was intoxicated. Would that be "hops"? My friend who drinks recently complained about that as a trend, said he likes Black Butte Porter, which I also find preferable - even though I dont know a damn about beer. Had one last night at a different open-mic I tried; drove home maybe an hour and a half after drinking it.with all kinds of foo foo stuff.
Found a recent one by Pizzacakecomic, but alas, I suppose too political to post here. Made me laugh though! Just want to avoid getting myself into trouble...

No, "foo foo stuff in beer" for me it's those fruit flavors and the hazy thing. I like very hoppy ale..... IPA.
Everyone can see something personal or different in it.Smart munitions
Just as an example, it gave me the idea of someone who uses something completely ignoring its cultural if not technical background.
Also thinking of those who casually use AI without having the slightest idea about how it works, and I'm not talking about teenagers.
I guess - for me - one of the arrows in the above image would be captioned "Feet sticking out from beneath the shrubbery by the sidewalk leading up to the front door" - but that wouldnt be as funny.
Tony EE -
Naw, the Voodoo Ranger IPA just didn't taste good. Lagunitas is OK, and my fave at the time was Sierra Nevada Torpedo, which is a bit hoppy.

I must apologise for the rambling stories in post 4982 above. I saw jackinnj's post just above and it brought back so many memories of happy days! It was also very late when I responded.
Now please return to funny pictures. [This thanks to 'Private Eye'

Ay! I have all of them in my fridge. Imperial IPA?
Lagunitas IPA not good?
Those are fighting words... what next? A Bose Acoustimass in my home office?
;-)
Yes, I do have the Sierra Nevada Torpedo, it is very tasty as well, it is a lighter flavor than the other three.
As a breton friend was saying to me "IPA and blond beers are just sugarized pee with bubbles".
He was so right... and it is very fun to say that everyone have sugarised redneck tastes, especially when it is right !
