This seems like a Soft Trigger. I recollect that a SCR/ TRIAC can act in funny ways without a Hard Trigger ?

Hey Art. I'm not sure what you mean by "soft" or "hard" trigger. I would be sending an appropriate voltage pulse to the TRIAC. Do you mean a pulse generated by software, as opposed to being generated by discrete components?
