I am looking at porting IDQ8's. I am crossing my IDQ's to my subs at 90 Hz at 24db so I am not looking for low end extension but more efficiency.
I have made and installed a box that is .35 cu ft.
If I tune the box to 70 Hz, I get a 6 db boost at 100Hz (peaked at 100Hz) over the IDQ8 in a .25 cu/ft box.
If I tune the box to 70 Hz, I get a 4 db boost at 100Hz (peaked at 95Hz) over the IDQ8 in a .25 cu/ft box.
If I tune the box to 60 Hz, I get a 4 db boost at 100Hz (peaked at 90Hz) over the IDQ8 in a .25 cu/ft box.
I am active and have eq capabilities, so I should be able to balance everything out, but it seams that I should take advantage of the extra power.

First off. Not knowing the alignment parameters of the sub and box your using to quote from.It seems that none of the examples you have given will sound good. With the x-over freq.and slope your using, that in itself will nullify what boost you may be getting. The tuning freq. is way too high to satisfy your taste for low freq.(bass).Going off from the description given you may want to try other speakers or a different alignment (sub+enclosure). With more info as to how your coming up with these cabniet designs, speaker parameters.Maximum cabniet volume your willing to sacrifice,it will be easier to help you with this project.
I see what you are trying to do, but IMHO I would shy away from too much. I think better to keep it smoother and EQ less. I would tune it lower and stay at 3db or less and not have a big hump in the response. What I would rather do myself is run 8s in front lower, say to 50 if possible and subs under them. Also I can not ever see a need for tons of 100hz, I hate 100 hz if it stands out at all but that just my .01.
