Port Firing Direction - Ceiling

Hello from PNW! I'm working on a subwoofer box design. The size is around 46.5" tall x 16.5" x 16.5". The driver is Dayton Audio DCS385-4 15" Classic Subwoofer driving it with 450 watts. The box has to stand on end to fit into the corner(ish) of the room.

My questions is, can I have the port firing toward the ceiling? I can't seem to get a short enough port in the design to have it work to fire any other way. Also don't feel comfortable to have it on legs to have it firing down. Wouldn't hate to have it fall on someone/something. Anyone with any experience with this?

It is OK as the port direction does not matter for vented boxes, except for midrange leakage (not relevant for subwoofers) and the possibility of stuff falling inside the box.

Port position (spatial position in the listening room) can matter, because it influences the coupling between subwoofer and room modes, though this usually is not relevant when the port tuning frequency is low.
