Port air speed versus excursion

I'm using a 244mm x 40mm slot port in my current design. Within the driver's linear excursion (<8W) the port speed is 7m/s.

Port speed exceeds the threshold of 17 m/s at 48W, but I just want confirmation that this doesn't matter because driver excursion would have been limited long ago (at 48W excursion is 3 times xmax @40Hz for these drivers).

I just want confirmation that, similar to when reading spl levels, modelled port speed is only useful when read in conjunction with driver excursion?
