Poor man's transformer volume control?

Hello Tony,
1. My friend is having a transformer winding machine and he works especially on toroidal cores. Is there any chance to use the toroidal core for this project?
2.Also, could you please confirm the number of turns required for each taps so that I can go ahead with this.

Best regards,
BP

toroid is okey, the number of turns is as stated in my hand sketch..
for the same cross section area as my ei core..

Hi Tony,

Can you please provide us with the all necessary formulas for designing of an autoformer volume control ?
Or simply where did you get from all these numbers ?
Did you compute turns by yourself or someone else has done it for you...?
I suppose everything depends also from the size and nature of the core...if it is amorphous or simple GOSS...

Regards,
Yugovitz

there is only one universal transformer formula, in our case, the lowest frequency of interest is 20 or 30 hz, then you need to decide inductance based on impedance the TVC will present to the source at the lowest frequency of interest...flux density is chosen on the low side to prevent core saturation at low frequency...

i opted for the maximum turns for the given winding window and wire size...

GOSS is good enough, amorphous? i have no such cores so i do not know..
