Pono

Pono is dead, but the quality of the player lives on. The high quality ESS Sabre DAC and balanced outputs are an excellent way to feed balanced hi-res music to my class D chip amps — TPA3118 “Wiener” and TI TPA3255EVM. So good in fact, I’m on the lookout for used Pono players as parts units.

Shown is my “Wiener” in balanced mode fed by Pono.

Have you checked out the specs of the TPA3118? Great little amp, but not a justification for "hi-res" music (not that there is any justification in any case, but...).

According to the manufacturer, it is intended for "Mini-Micro Component, Speaker Bar, Docks, After-Market Automotive, CRT TV and Consumer Audio Applications".

Oops,

That center photo above is NOT my TPA3118, but one belonging to rhing. The tiny editing window now prevents me from correcting the mistake. A correct photo is attached.
