That would have been a textbook reply from F1. He doesn't care for us group of Polk "Ubermodders".
Although I agree with your statement for most vintage factory Polks, I haven't owned a set that I didn't modify to the hilt.

Glue is dried. This time I used Liquid Nails as it cures better than Power Grab to the alum and pvc plastic. I simply used a 2" PVC coupler because I only needed an extra 2" length (3.5" long by 2.25" ID. and I can test and pull out cabinet and lathe turn 'til I like the bass tuning)
I also glued and punched out the factory rubber pad for easy access to cabinet mount screws this time. I Don't know why Polk didn't do this originally, but this added alot more mass and damping to the platform, and I don't have to peel back the pad for access...

This is against biggg rodents or to prevent russians put in some more dangerous things.View attachment 1007656
I remember when I was a small child the only decent speakers in Soviet union were radiotechnika s-90. I've heard rumors that those were copies of Yamaha ns-1000 speakers but not confirmed. Just rumor you know.
Looks like ports resemble x-ports in a way. What do u think? Or just aesthetics and protection against big rodents or cats trespassing or squatting inside speakers
