I have a Proxima Dp6150 projector. The colors are all screwed up on it. I tore it apart and found that there were two small rectangular pieces of glass with polarized film on them that were cracking and melting. I called Proxima and they say that I can't buy that individual part, I have to replace the entire optics engine which would run me about $3000. The small pieces of glass that are ruined were on the blue and green sides. The piece of glass on the red side is fine. I was just wondering where I can find these pieces or how hard it would be to rig this up myself so that it works. I don't really know anything about projectors. Any help would be appreciated...I'm desperate. Thanks.
the glass is a dichromic filter with a polarizer laminated to it at 45 degrees. The dicromic filter can be purchase at an optics specialty house like meles griot(check the web). Your best bet is to watch ebay for a broken projector for parts and buy it at about $100. Post the dimensions of the filters.
Thanks for the information. The filter is 1 1/8 inches by 15/16 inches. How exactly does this piece work? Is it possible for me to construct this piece somehow? I was looking on edmund optics site, but I'm not sure what I need. Thanks for the help.
I was looking online and there are many different types of dichroic filters. Color additive and color subtractive and reflective. What kind do I need? Also what colors would I need if the pieces that were ruined were before the blue and green sides?
Look at one of those sites that explains projectors. They usually have a blow up image of the parts. You have to look at what is on each side of the part you are going to change. Follow the light path in the diagram. Follow the path in your system. If you cant compare and see what is happening in your system you don't want to replace it yourself.

If you can't fix this, let me know if you want to sell it. I am interested in playing with one. Thanks Chad
