Got very hot and loads of UV light came from it when it was charging flat car batteries!
Yikes! Loved that beautiful glow!
...Im curious as to what factory made the noval bases used in the combloc said:Wow! I'm amazed at the detail that's coming to be known about these obsolete technologies.
Although I lived through these, there were rarely any questions asked at the time within my industry, they were just products we bought.
Thank you to all contributors, it's fascinating.
When Philips started to shut down their tube factories the equipment went to Poland. The tubes made there were improved versions of what was made earlier under the hiips name - Polam and Telam tubes are the best Philips versions. Oops, now prices will go up....
I have a couple of POLAMP (with a P at the end !). Also made in Poland.
Any connection with POLAM ?
What does the POLAM logo look like when compared to my POLAMPs ?

There are plenty of resellers that relabel a tube, in other words the label does not mean much. You will have to look at the innards and compare that with a known tube from the manufacturer. It may be that it came out of the same factory but made to diffeent specifications.
I don't know the exact reason for the different branding names, but I am pretty sure that POLAM, POLAMP and TELAM are the same tubes (or at least have the same origin).
There are plenty of Polamp tubes avaiable on the Polish equivalent of eBay, so must just be a brand ...
