I have been using an active filter design from ESP for this purpose. You could try looking for the filters for the Wilmslow Audio Prestige range if you want an existing design, or possibly contact Volt directly, they are helpful people, they might be able to send you a schematic.
Pleased I found this thread rather than startinanother, I am going to try and work on a design influenced by the BB5 but not a clone.
Does anyone have a bandpass filter design for the Volt VM752 mid I could experiment with?
Many thanks,
Simon 🙂
Also the Volt and PMC domes can easily be replaced whereas I believe the ATC needs more extensive rebuilding. I have a pair of the PMC domes and I think they are fantastic.
Thanks for that good to know that the dome in the Volt is user changeable, could be a dealmaker for me!!

Thanks again, I could ask them for an application note.
Check it with them first, I haven't done a Volt dome but I have done PMC and they look spookily similar, they even fit into the same panel cutouts and the bolts are in the same place. Might be worth checking that you can actually buy the domes too. I was amazed at how they self-align when you put them together.
I have an active system using these PMC domes with Volt Radial bass and high-end Scanspeak tweeters, the realism of the sound produced is jaw-dropping.

Ask about the Radial bass drivers too, they are really good and made to work with the dome mids. But make sure you get the monitor Radials not the PA ones, they seem to use the same chassis but the sound is very different.

Will do thank you! Quick question if I may, what bass driver are you using and what loading method?
Volt Radial RV3143 12" in bass reflex although I would like to get hold of something mimicking the PMC ATL at some point. One other thing about these drivers is they will go VERY LOUD without changing sound quality, if that is of any interest to you. Also they are "real" rather than "nice hifi" probably what hifi people call "too analytical" - to me they are just realistic. I think they are better active too, although it does add some complication.

Uuuhm, you mean at The world leading producer of "high-end" crossover components ?
I did scan this site, cannot find that product. Maybe it's because I'm just awake 😀
What I DID find is the Volt driver (Volt Loudspeakers 52mm Textile Dome Midrange), but the questions was "Where did u get the baffle to go around the mid from"
Would you be so kind to post a URL? OR was this what you meant?
Thanks a (big) bunch..

I've made this myself based on the PMC drawings..

Looks very good, did you use a passive or active crossover? I am looking for a passive network as a starting point to play around with.
Thanks
Simon 🙂
Thanks

Hi Simon,
I went for active filtering with an DSP which gives you max flexibility. I hadn't decided on the tweeter yet, with the DSP I could always modify cross point and type of filter (12dB/Oct or 24dB/Oct and LR or other), so I had the opportunity to try different tweeters on various X-points and filter characteristics. In the passed I had Synthese 2 (passive), K+H O300 (active) and Focal SM9 (active). I was never really happy with the result so I tried many other professional monitors but never liked them. I'm pleased with the current config..

I wonder if anybody here has built a Wilmslow Audio TL12 or TL15 kit and can share his impression of the monitor.
Hows the crossovers and the overall sound of this speaker?
Maybe somebody could even compare it to a real mb2 by PMC

I wonder how the PMC would compare to this:
WA TL12- Volt midrange
at least I consider this to be pretty spot on compared to some passive PMC mb2 or mb1..
I mean, why wouldn't it?
Same drivers and all that.. with some well designed crossover, I don't think this has to hide behind real PMCs
does anybody has constructed a TL with the RV3143?
I can't understand how PMC can get 3 mt of TL length for MB2 and 4 mt for BB5 (as written in the specs) with a design like the one on the brochure... it looks shorter to me.
regards

thanks Dikke, I saw that image on the first page, but it's far from being 3 mt, I would say less than 2.
Your TL looks pretty cool, have you made some measures?
