PMC FB1 - cloned and shortened for centre speaker

this thread is a re-direction of an older thread from here: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/144212-clone-pmc-db1.html#post2668405

My home theatre system is driving the need. I have PMC FB1s for L and R front. The front centre speaker is still a DIY single driver unit and it simply can't provide anything like a match to the rest of the system.

I want the centre speaker to match the front L and R speakers in terms of the sound. My set up allows me to use a vertical oriented centre speaker sitting on the floor. Using a full size FB1 would be too large as it would interfere with the screen, but I can accommodate something that is half the height of an FB1.

The PMC TB2 is the closest 'small cousin' of the FB1 and so it would be an option for me to clone this. But the FB1 speakers have the exit port from the TL facing to the front whereas the smaller TB2 fires to the back. I think that my clone needs to fire to the front so it is matches better the behaviour of the FB1s. So what I actually want is neither TB2 nor FB1 but half-height FB1. It's the speaker that PMC never made.

And so the journey begins...
