Please recommend an amazing amp for beginner :)

Hello,

I am new to this website and would like to learn how to build myself a very high quality amp that I can keep for some time. I built myself the Karma Audio Indignias that the website group developed and I very much like them and can see some higher end speakers being made in the future. I would like an amp around 50 to 100 watts (is that a good number?) and of very high quality.
Do the diy amps compare to the high end audiophile amps? If so what are some good ones to try? I am up for a challenge, but I do need to have a good build log that I can walk myself through and understand what is going on. I have used the search bar, so please don't respond with search yourself 🙂 I have read many many posts and have become a little confused when I read them. It seems like a schematic is posted and then there are a ton of pages after that with different modifications that I unfortunately don't yet understand. Thanks in advance!!

Hi peter keep reading . unfortunatley hifi audio is very subjective and you are the one that has to listen to your creation . learning about this stuff means you can alter things to your taste. these are all good .. symasym destroyerx pass labs apex and if you like somthing really diffrent you could try looking at Elvee's wonderfull creations. there are many many threads on this forum that contain details on constructing amplifiers and tweeking them to get what you think is the best sound . on a positive note you are in the best forum to listen and learn .

Hi Peter,

Take a look at the following links. I still have some of my SymAsym Rev_1.3 and the latest Rev_1.4 PCBs available if you're interested. The amplifier is well document with Assembly Instructions, BOM, everything you need to build it. I'd be more than happy to help you out with assembly and testing. Here's the links.

Wow, I truly appreciate all of your input so far. It just goes to show how amazing these forums are with helping out members. I am at work and trying to do some reading on the recommended amps 🙂 I like the idea of a kit and group buy! I am from Canada, does that make any difference?

For a great starter amp I'd go with this dirt cheap kit. Connexelectronic

2x100 Watts for $40! Just add a supply. Need about a 250 W 80VAC CT secondary transformer, A beefy bridge and some big caps, a small 5v aux supply, a volume control, a chassis to put it in and you're done.

This looks great! The problem lies in my complete lack of knowledge regarding what a bridge is, what are the caps for etc etc. perhaps I should start with a book haha

If you don't know what a bridge is (a full wave bridge rectifier - turns AC into positive and negative pulses) or what caps are for (smoothing pulses of a given polarity into smooth DC) then I'd start WAY more simple.
You requested amazing, that's what I aimed for. But you can't just jump into assembling a Ferarri before you can tune up a VW bug. What you request is like thatl You can't make amazing until you understand at least enough to relize WHY it is amazing. Download and study a basic electronics course, build some simple kits and get proficient at soldering. Then come back.
