Please need help! How to extend my FFC FPC LCD cable?

To extend a cable using that connector, lift the brown latch on the cable. Then you put the original cable and the extension cable face to face (contacts touching) and insert them into the connector and close the latch.

If you can't get the latch closed, take a close look at the ffc coming out of the LCD. These commonly have a "stiffener" piece of plastic on the side opposite the contacts. The stiffener piece on my LCD is white, yours may be clear, but it should be obvious that it is there. If it is clear, look at the side of the FFC carefully to make sure that there are definitely two pieces of plastic stuck together, the FFC and the stiffener. (The reason I am being so cautious is that I ruined an extension cable by removing what I thought was a stiffener piece on it. I didn't look at it, I just assumed. :xeye: The contacts were stuck directly on the bit I removed and I ended up with twisted and curled contacts. Useless.) To get to the point, the stiffener peels right off and then it is easy to get the latch to close on the connector.
