Hi Folks,

I'm new to this "Hobby" and want to build a decent LCD projector.

My problem is where to start? Do I go with a LCD panel on an overhead projector, or backlight a panel and make a lens setup and my own projector?

I've been offered a Sharp QA-200 as new with all the leads etc, for $165.00. Is this a good deal. Is this panel any good for projection? I understand it's capable of 1.7 million colors.

Any advice would be GREATLY appriciated...

Thank you,
Tom Elliott...:confused

Hope I can help in a way

heya there, it's not really nice to hope others will fail, but I
understand you need some help and don't get it right away it's
frustrating in a way I know I wish I had more answers myself
alrdy but hey those guy's maybe alrdy helped like dozens of
peep'z and now those are helped are gone and the seniors can't
stay to help nOOb for all the time they give there knowledge
through in the hope others will give that on there turn to new-ish
nOOb's ... I hope I didn't offended anybody just try to understand forums 🙂

My suggestion, let's try to find out some solutions for us, I am a
nOOb in this to.
Maybe we can help eachother in this, I am trying to build a lens-LCD setup tho, not a OHP project.

This is my link off the forum with what I came up alrdy

Re: THANKS TO YOU ALL

Gee Tom I'm REALLY sorry we didn't all come rushing to your aid!

If you do the work and actually do some searching you will find all the answers in this forum. The best sollution for a DIY projector is to use what you can find....if you find an OHP panel and it's a good one GREAT! If you find a way to modify a backlight..GREAT! I use a laptop LCD panel on an OHP (until my custom box is done). My point is WE CAN'T tell you which way is best, this whole DIY projector issue is trial and error. Wishing us bad luck/results will only result in you being ignored completely. So do some searching....determine the path you wish to follow, learn the basics....then ask your questions.

I for one, WILL NOT "Spoon feed" all the required information to anyone! If you ask pointed questions about certain aspects of the task at hand I will be more than happy to give any assistance I may be able to offer.

As for your Sharp panel...I have no idea if it's any good. Perhaps your answer lies in the Good panel/Bad panel thread? (after all thats what the thread was created for)

Learn a LITTLE and we WILL help a LOT! Learn NOTHING and we will respond in kind.
