Still going strong
Well the second version of these have been working rather well for the last couple of years now. No issues whatsoever, I’m happy with them and thats all that counts.

Nice work, I like the second, more conventional, version! 🙂
Plasticine is made of plaster, wax and petroleum jelly in varying quantities and, in my experience, it can harden over time as the oils are lost to the atmosphere.
Luckily, you appear not to have experienced this problem in the three years since installation.
However, you may wish to consider covering the Plasticine with a thin layer of Plasti Dip rubber paint in order to seal in the oils.

I read that Plasti Dip has been used to coat the plasticine dummy eggs used to monitor egg predation by small mammals! 🙂

I suppose it depends on the amount of petroleum content.
The open baffle drivers are still ok. No hardness/drying and they have an Air Con vent right above them. They were done way before these speakers so would be a good three years or more.
So the house is on average around 20degrees all year round. But we do live in a rather humid climate.
Some sort of sealant would be a nice idea though.
