Plate transformer that doesn’t vibrate?

I lined the end bells on a noisy Edcor power transformer with some on that butyl dampening material and it helped.

Yes on 300 but they don't have one big enough to match the 278CX. I thought about dampening the end bells like on the edcor. Didn't know if there was enough room though. Will check that out. Where did you get that dampening material? Send link please.

I have a Hammond serving only as a filament transformer--way under taxed--that might benefit from Stephe's treatment now. So frustrating to drop like $60 on a pair of brand new transformers to do just one thing in a giant build (845 monos with tons of iron) and one of the stupid things makes more noise than everything else, once sorted.

Seems like Edcors may be even more prone to trouble. I have one sitting on O rings and that makes it quiet enough. But it is also a very thick and small top plate.

I've used many Anteks. Never had one buzz. I wish they were easier to fit on top in a pretty way.

I have a build coming with Monolith OPTs. Thought about ordering a PT. Realized I'll come out ahead even if I need to try a second or third Hammond or just switch to Antek.

Apparently the Hammond 300 series are better in this regard. I haven't had trouble with Hammond 200 series transformers yet. I had an old Stancor 8412 that buzzed very noticeably. I removed the end bells and found that the coil was actually quite loose around the center leg. I used some composite door wedges. They are very thin on the end so a couple pieces, one from each side, to take up the slack and it is now very quiet with the bells reinstalled.
