Hi, i'm new to this forum, not an electronics expert.
I have this subwoofer Energy Encore 8, 8" 150W. Bought second hand, was working fine for about a year. Recently the sound started disappearing then working again after 10s or so, at moderate power levels, bass intensive music. As if there is not enough power or something. At lower sound levels 15-20% all is fine, so it hasn't completely failed.
I checked the mosfets are IRF640 and IRF640N (latter possibly replaced by previous repair). Are they identical? Perhaps the replaced one was a fake or inferior quality.. I measured them, G-S G-D appear to be open circuit, resistance between S and D is not equal when tester leads reversed.
What are the replacement options for the amp? Speaker is 4Ω google finds part# 4DR//51862 WOOFER 8"*1.5"*20OZ SHLD $169.14,
there is a crossover with eq mounted at the front of box, connects via 5pin connector to the amp board.
