For those who have PE 300-793/794 and are quite bothered by the hum noise, please drop me an email. I will send you a work-around (which requires soldering of a jumper wire). I have a couple of previous PE customers complained about the hum noise on those amps.

Do you ship to the UK ? I'm looking for someone that can supply a driver and amp fro a sub project I'm doing, 50L sealed enclosure.
For ease of shipping I want to be able to order both from the same place.
cheers

This is another misconception -- advantage of soft-clipping. Subwoofers do not need soft clipping. In the old days, clipping was scary because it sent high frequency clipping signals to tweeters and fried them. That was why people came up with soft-clipping. Subwoofers automatically attenuates frequency above 100hz (thanks to the high voice coil inductance), including the clipping noise. Most people cannot hear the clipping distortion. Subwoofer amps these days do not have clipping indicator light. If they do, we will be surprised to see how often we push subwoofer amplifiers into clipping, without knowing it.
Some digital amplifers cannot survive without soft clipping circuit because the circuit is to protect those amplifiers, not the subwoofers they drives.
Another disadvantage of the soft-clipping circuit is that it degrades the sound because the circuit sits on the signal path and alters the signal.

Oops. The fix I have is for PE 300-794/796. The remote version 300-793 does not have a ground loop related hum noise. Sorry for the mess-up.
