Planning to buy Sanway DA32K4 – testing it for the community, looking for measurement advice

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to purchase the Sanway DA32K4 (1155$us with shipping), a 4-channel Class D amplifier with GaN transistors. My goal is to test it and share the results here — mostly to help the community understand if these affordable high-power amps from China are truly worth the investment.

At the moment, I only have basic tools:
  • I can measure power draw (mains current and voltage)
  • I can measure output voltage
  • I also own a miniDSP UMIK-1 measurement microphone
My current subwoofer driver is a B&C 18SW115-4, and I plan to run the amp with a 4 of them.

I’d love to hear from those with more experience:
  • What simple but meaningful tests can I do with this setup?
  • Is it possible to use the UMIK-1 to perform some basic output or frequency response tests on this kind of amp?
  • Which measurements would be most useful for the community?
  • In what order should I perform them, based on accessibility and equipment?
  • And finally, would it be better to use my 18SW115 for testing, or should I try to find a dummy load (power resistor) instead?
That said, I’m still hesitating a bit — I could also go for two DA24K2 or one DA18K4 units instead, which don’t use GaN but have already been tested by others, potentially saving money and avoiding the risk of a flawed new design.

Any advice, test ideas, or software recommendations would be very welcome. I’m doing this mainly out of curiosity and to give something back to the DIY audio community.
