so i'd like to start putting together a video projector (aren't we all here for that reason) this is my current plan and i'd like you all to poke holes in it (construtively)
i want to make a small package, med-res display, which i'll primary use for movies. right, and i'm s student so its got to be budget.
i've been thinking i could swipe a magnifying glass and use it for a lense. what shape are the lenses that come off the OHP or projectors? i was thinking what it would be a simple concave lense, but some of the OHP i've been sizing up are a combination.
12v halogens or perhaps some fog lights for lighting.
for a lcd i was thinking of getting one out of a video camera or maybe on of those Playstation moble things. I don't really understand how the controller board is removed though.... could anyone explan this process?
computer PSU for power, and 12v fans for coolling.
or maybe just chop and paste a small screen into a slide projector, but where would i find a screen to fit?
thats about as far as i've got, any thing else i should consider?
thanks, Machs

When I follow ya your idea's are great, like using a LCD from a digicam and so but I don't think those screens are easy to connect to a PC videocard.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
And for as far as I know those LCD's aren't that good to be used for projection, and cheap, I don't think it will be cheap when you destroy a working PS console.
For that price you have (better I don't know ...) but then you can buy yourself a small 4" LCD

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Your best bet is to find a used OHP. That way your optics and light source are taken care of..(fresnel, decent lamp and lens's) You need big time light...fog lights and similar won't work.
You are going to find that it is "financially prohibitive" to get a LCD that will fit in a slide projector (if you find some let us know...I bet we all convert 😉 ) "Tiny" screens with decent res are big time dollars.
Playstation LCD's and other such small LCD's give crappy picture..big time screen door effect.

how about maybe a camcorder LCD? same effect?
how does one go about removing the controlled board ?

Ok let's say you opened the cam and removed all the guts you needed, then start the real problem how do you gonna get it connected to PC, video, dvd or vcr?
A cam has an output but has a camcorder an signal to recieve?
Mostly I don't think so to be honost.
The screen will have some cables to recieve but how you gonna connect them to any device ?

This deals with the "native resollution" of the LCD panel in question...that is to say...if you find a 2 inch LCD that has a res of 1280X1024 then it would look awesome and have potential. You will find most are lower res than that.
When you find a decent panel you need to "Re-locate" the controll boards as needed..not my area of expertise, search the forum for making flat cables longer.
The panel I use was super easy to modify...remove a few screws...throw away the backlight...plug in the TTL cable (to the PCI LCD controller I have) put it on the OHP...Watch movies!
