All done. Mounted the tweeter, soldered the wires, fixed the loose veneer, added more stuffing including a partial aperiodic loading of the port and then torqued the screws.

XO'd at 120 Hz and 12K 1st order.

Ready for the next diyFest on the island. If you guys like them, I'll build new boxes and have yet another diySpeaker.

Dave, thanks for the EnABLed drivers and Terry, I hope you like what I've done to the RS 1354 driver I know you really like.

Cheers. 🙂

Hey Cal,

Not only do I like what you've done, but I can't wait to hear them!😀

The 1354 is an outstanding driver and I need to build some speakers to thin the herd (Heard?) a bit.

Even if I never buy another driver, I've got enough drivers to last me approximately 3,200 years or so. I guess I'd better get busy.
😱

Best Regards,
Terry

HeHe...man do I ever understand your driver situation. Two pairs of speakers a year and I'd still have tweeters left over in 20 years.

I tried really hard not to take anything away from the 1354, just add a little at the top and bottom to fill in where it's missing.

In some ways the 1354 is just about the ideal driver, needing only a whiff of woofer and a touch of tweeter and wah-la...the good sound!

Best Regards,
Terry

After sorting out the issues in this thread I now have questions for you wise men.

The mid/high boxes are a tad boxy. Not bad but noticeable. Since Dave introduced me to OB, be it full open or just a bunch of holes in the back, I am kind of addicted to the "airiness". So here's the question: If I want to punch some holes in the back of the small boxes, knowing the RS 1354's are XO'd at around 150 Hz, 1st order, what size holes and how many can I put in before I deal with cancellation? Is it the kind of start small and add as you see fit or can someone get me started?

I am having fun with this but this is something I really need experience to help this along.

TIA.

At what point does the holiness (sp) of the box turn it into an OB!!??
'tis the question I am asking my friend.
What about full on OB and mount them on a sheet of ply?
I would like to stick with something similar so I can bring it to diyFest and keep the WAF when I build the 'real' cabinets.
How about put 1354 back in the originalboxes and riddle the back with holes?
Huh?
They are in the original boxes. You gave me those with the drivers. I am hoping to get your advice about putting some holes in the back but not compromising the low end of the 1354's (XO +/- 125hz) by adding too many holes.

Should I use a 1/4" drill or something larger and just keep going until I notice a detriment or is there something I might want to know before I just go at it?

The woofer boxes I can voice on my own, they're not far from good at this point.

Thanks again for all input.
