elizard thanks for the pics....looks good!!!....are they the Lm3886`s.....any info on the final circuit that you used would be appreciated
Cheers!!The DIRT®

They're 3875's.
The circuit I used was peter daniel's inverted circuit. Riken 220k/10k resistors, black gate 4.7uF caps, and Panasonic FC 1000uF caps. The supply (pictures coming tonight) is 400VA, 2x22V secondaries toroid from Plitron (they have a LONG lead time), MUR1520 diodes forming the bridge. And I'm using a 4A fuse, hasn't blown so far, so it is fine.
Binding posts on one are crappy plastic type i pulled off of somewhere, and on the other are un-insulated nickel type .. both crappy
I almost got some wbt ones today, but it ended being $70 after shipping, plus customs so i changed my mind and got LOTS of blue LEDs instead .. 100 to be exact
I'll probably leave some 30 for myself, and offer the rest here for fairly cheap. Something along the lines of $0.50-$0.75 each .. i'll post info of that later

You`ve just gotta love this Gainclone nonsense!
Just look at what elizard has produced, and I mean this with the greatest of respect, a chip with a bunch of wires hanging off it, sitting on top of an old PA amplifier case. The really GREAT thing about this (having just built a Gainclone that looks like a plate of spaghetti), is that we know just how good these things sound. I reckon there`s many a manufacturer building and selling amplifiers costing a lot of money that sound no where near as good as a Gainclone

Nice pictures elizard!
Is that really just a web cam that you used? The close ups are very sharp.
One interesting point, your Panasonic FC caps are a different colour to the ones we get in the UK (Europe?). Ours come with a black jacket as seen in this picture
I would make just one sugggestion looking at your pictures. Try supporting the lower ends of the FC caps rather than leaving them in mid air so to speak. I think that it could help improve the sound slightly.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Nice, very nice.
There are no two equal Gainclones.
Every GC is an original piece.
elizard, you can cut two pieces of wood, apply some varnish and put on the front of the amp modules.
It would be a nice front pannel, with one of your blue leds.
Just a suggestion.
A question I whant to make you is if you don't have ground loops.
Any noise?
Two channels in independent boxes and only one toroid... usually means noise.

there is a slight buzz, which you cannot hear when you turn the music on ..
one thing i will try doing is connecting the star earths and seeing if that makes a change, but the buzz/hum is so slight (my old receiver put out like 10 times more hum) that i am not bothered. You have to actually be right up to the speaker to hear it
oh yeah, and its a digital camera, not a webcam 🙂

The sound of silence
With no music playing, with my ear near the speaker, I take the volume control all the way to the maximum position and...
Nothing!😱 😉
Completely silent.
But you have to make it as I mentioned above.
Now... with two boxes and one transformer, I can't see how.🙄

actually i'll go try the star earths now
also the buzzing is the same at any position of the volume control 🙂
