Hey, I just want to know if someone could tell me how you mesure quality? I mean, there is a formula? For example if I want to compare a home-made projector with a professional one; what do I look for?
I know that brightness is very important (obviously) but do I have to look for something else?
Is there, I dont know, any software that could be used to test the quality of a projection?
Thanks.

If you have a test disc (Faroudja etc) you can easily test resolution (a good gross test) as well as linearity. Contrast and color balance are a little harder but there are also test screens for these.

That's a very good point. Before we muck about with gamma correction etc. it wouldn't be too hard to run the projector from a PC, and use a paint program of some sort to create a series of colour boxes ie. RGB (0 0 0), (10 0 0), (20 0 0) etc. etc. and also grey scale boxes (10 10 10), (20 20 20) and so on. Perhaps then a digital photo could be taken and the colours tested to see how faithfully the projector manages them. You could custom design a gamma curve correction for your projector that way.
