BTW the black dot hanging is the hobbit's foehead is the pull chain from my ceiling fan, and the vertical stripes are the vertical blinds behind the bedsheet.
Very Nice Zardoz!!!
I'm getting about the same quality of picture as you, but my image seems a little darker. I think I may have to re-adjust my optics (this is getting frustrating). I am also thinking that the fact that the wall I am using is painted blue might also be a factor.

P.S what movie is that
It's The Lord of the Rings
lumens
I'm not sure how many lumens the OHP is pushing, it's an antiquated elmo that I bought from the army surplus. It came to me with no stage glass(replaced with an old piece of window), literally torn to pieces, I had to replace the switch and clean the whole thing (it was disgusting). It uses a 360watt ENX lamp that points at a mirror mounted at an angle inside the base, the frezzie is a cheap plastic one but seems to do the job just fine. I bought the unit for $10.00 just for the parts (plan to use the frezzie for a custom box) The image is a 10 foot diagonal, I have pushed it to MUCH BIGGER with very little image degradation. Now to make me a screen "worthy" of the PJ 😀

PS: the movie is Fellowship of the ring (Lord of the rings) the scene is when the 2 hobbit's (dont recall names) set off the dragon firework inside the tent, seconds before Gandalf grab's them by the ear's. 😉 It's a night scene, I used that to show the black's my gear can do. I'll be posting more pics as I figure out my camera more.

wow! i must say im VERY impressed! i didnt think ENX 360's could produce such beautiful results. i saw a 3m 395 which uses ENX 360's i was reluctant to buy it bcuz i thought it was weak now im having second thoughts. i thought u needed at least 400 watt/4000 lumens to get a decent picture? i MAY not buy that artograph after all 😉

I would say more than 75% of a DIY PJ's chances of success or failure lie's in the LCD screen. My LCD was a "second choice" I couldn't/haven't find the screen I really want for the money I want to spend. Given the results I've gotten so far I wont be looking too hard for "the perfect panel", I'll let it find me 😉

oh! i learn something new every day 🙂 do u think this LCD is good? http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=205-018
It does look like a decent panel, however I have no idea how well the backlight and related controller boards will relocate(if they can be at all). I have seen various posts explaining how the quoted res of in car TV's are in some cases exagerated. If I were you I would try to find out who's LCD screen is in this unit, and what the model number is for it.

Re: what panel?
I'm using a Sharp LQ121S1DG11, as I've said it's not what I wanted...I want an LVDS panel not a TTL panel (which is what I have) But now that I have it I'm quite pleased with it and wont be looking too hard for another (unless I find one for cheap) I paid about $100.00 Canadian for this panel on Ebay. And another $200.00 (roughly) for the controller card direct from Taiwan (this was a special arrangement from my supplier and I dont expect it will be very easy to duplicate my "deal" without an OEM involved)
