Just finished wiring up the baby 3-inch Fostex FE83E's in a quickly prepared traxtrix horn from some Carfrae parts I had. (See the pencil outline of the internal horn path on the side of the cabinet.)

Cable is braided multi-strand copper....wired directly to the amp.

Wow...what a sound! Not big....but very intimate and revealing.

The speakers really vanish, and despite the cabinets only being 2m apart, the sound stage is excellent.

I applied some dampening behind the drivers, plus I placed a couple of rolled up towels inside the mid section of the horn to minimise HF's.

This is just a fun project to work out if the concept would work. It does.

I'll play around with a baby sub....perhaps a small folded tapped horn.

I'll now work on a design for the overal cabinet, plus a stand. I'll also try the 4-inch unit, to improve SPL's. I think this cabinet concept would be great for the 6.5-inch unit. Would love to try a Feastrex!!

Appreciate feedback and ideas.

For sim purposes (which I haven't done) see below.

Hi GM, thank you for posting the links. That is one very cool and funky-looking BLH.

Thank you also for keeping me in mind. I did finish that build (it wasn't too bad) but because I am such a poor builder, I am doing strictly OB now. I thank you for your continued assistance (and steadfast patience) and I hope at some point I can actually be worthy of it (!!!) I will post my OB results this summer, although what I'm doing is not noteworthy per se. 🙂
