I'm looking for a physically small twin triode tube to fit into a very tight space. It needs to be cheap and readily available. Any suggestions?
google is your friend...

6021 is a small dual triode. I have been experimenting with them in a guitar preamp circuit. It will eventually go inside the guitar. They can be stuffed into an 8 pin round IC socket with a little pin bending.
The data sheet is too big to attach. get it here:

google usually is my friend, but in this case, it's not that helpful 🙁
The JAN6418 are a little too tiny. If those are sub-miniature, I guess I'm looking for "small". Perhaps 50-70% of the size of a 12AX7.

How about the 5670, which is in the little peanut-size envelope like a 6AK5.
5670! Yes! That's just might be the one I need. With that p/n, I found other possibilities... 6N3P 2C51 WE396A. With your help, google is my friend again 😀

Duncan amps TDSL is also a great piece of kit for this. If you know the base and envelope you want (thery are standard) you can use its search feature to identify only tubes with those features. Of course, you need to know what base and envelope code you are looking for, but once you have a lock on that it makes finding a suitable tube easier.
6N3P is listed as an equivalent to 5670, but it's in a more usual-sized envelope like a 6U8 or 12AX7 or similar. I know - I ran across the litle 5670 in my stash just late last night, got the data, and made the comparison.
Don't forget 6J6A and its many computer variants...cheap enough to select for audio quality, Rp 7k, mu 38. Shared cathode though, makes a good LTP

Lol. First time a tube gets inside a guitar's body. But where? Booster or buffer? Microphonics possiby a problem? I have to see that.

Pay attention to the circuit if you use 6J6, he's prone to break out into oscillation if you look at it sideways.

By the way Colt, the 6j6 russian variant is kinda crappy. Sounds ok but my God i thought i was watching a submarine movie, you know...ping...ping...ping.
Microphonic!
Microphonic!

depending on the intended sound, the microphonics might make it sound amazing
He should open a new thread telling more about it.depending on the intended sound, the microphonics might make it sound amazing
Maybe he will do in his webpage.

...so I guess that would be the first tube pickup.
😀

you know if you want a nice microphonic tube to try it with, the 6418 submini is a nigh-perfect candidate. those things ring like church bells in a hurricane (and they're easily dampened with small rubber grommets if you feel the effect detracts from the sound)

Nope... Check this out, a tube used as a transducer - in this case a phono pickup.
Vacuum tube phono cartridge
This device was used in all sorts of other applications as well..
